Frequently Asked Questions

What is fat transfer to enhance the Labial Puff or Labia Majora?

One of the best ways to restore volume to a deflated, wrinkled Labial Puff is to use your own fat cells to plump it up. This procedure is carried out using small tubes (Microcannula) to harvest and inject the fat cells. The fat cells are harvested from your tummy or thigh area and then injected back into the Labia Majora to volumize it. This is also called autologous fat transfer to Labia Majora.

What anaesthesia is used for Labia Majora Fat transfer?

This operation is commonly performed as a day surgery, under local anaesthesia.

What is the recovery like?

The surgery is generally associated with a quick recovery. Swelling and discomfort are generally the only downtime, and subside over the next 2–3 weeks.

You can shower after the first 24 hours and the sutures self-dissolve over a weeks’ time. You are advised to wear a sanitary pad for the first week to keep the area dry. Avoid tight clothes, vigorous exercise, horse riding, bike riding and sexual activity for 4–8 weeks to allow appropriate healing of the area as per your doctors advise.

What are the risks of this operation?

Like all cosmetic surgery Labia Majora Fat Transfer is associated with risk of swelling, bruising, pain, bleeding, infections, there can be asymmetrical healing and temporary numbness which should recover.
