What is Collagen Hydration Booster?

We have all got a set amount of Collagen, Elastin, Hyaluronic Acid in our skin around the age of 20 years. As we go through life, sun exposure, environmental pollutant, hormones, bad lifestyle, stress and aging causes depletion of these three substances in our skin, causing it to slowly lose its bounciness, elasticity and volume. This process is also described as elastosis or dermatochalasis, solar elastosis.

There are 3 classes of injectable treatments that can reverse this decline in Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic Acid giving back the younger, smoother, bouncier skin free of imperfections.

There is however no single treatment that has all the answers; improving the skin collagen and hydration always necessitates medical skin creams and sun protection.

There are other modalities can also be harnessed like energy based devices like Morpheus8 or Fractional CO2 Lasers amongst many.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hyaluronic Acid (HA)?

Hyaluronic Acid or HA is a naturally occurring complex sugar molecule, that is naturally produced by the fibroblast cell in the dermis of your skin. HA attracts and binds water molecules in your skin and is therefore very important for skin hydration. Aging, Hormonal changes, Sun exposure and Environmental Toxins like smoking, pollution, car exhausts can all lead to a depletion of HA in the skin. The depletion of HA can result in the skin looking dull, lax, creepie, dry and also give rise to fine wrinkles.

Both the products aim to improve the appearance and functioning of the skin, though moisturisers work on the outside while the latter is deposited into the skin. Both moisturisers and skin boosters can have HA as the primary hydrator. Often a times we advise our patients to use both modalities to get the best results. In most injectable skin boosters, the HA molecule is crosslinked either with the use of a molecule called BDDE or using heat stabilisation in the case of Profhilo. It is best to imagine injectable HA dermal fillers as building a layer of moisturiser inside your skin that will last for many months, unlike moisturising creams that will come off with skin cleansing.

HA Skin Hydrating Dermal Fillers can transform dull, lax, wrinkled dehydrated skin into Skin that is Plump, Radiant, Fresh, Healthy, Firmer, Bouncier and which feels Hydrated and soft.

The time it takes for a treatment varies with the type of HA Moisturising Injection you are having, while a Profhilo treatment takes about 15 minutes or less.

While there is a variation in comfort levels depending on the type of product, most treatments are only mildly uncomfortable. The use of numbing creams before and addition of lignocaine to the filler molecule, further minimise the discomfort.

Yes, while these treatments are generally not done at the same time, you can have Botox or Dermal Fillers about 3–4 weeks after your Skin Moisturising injection treatments.

Hyperdilute Radiesse or Hyperdilute CaHa (Calcium Hydroxyapatite) are classed as Biostimulator HA injections as besides increasing the concentration of HA in the dermis, they also stimulate synthesis of Collagen and Elastin by your skin cells. These injections are composed of very dilute calcium particles that when deposited into skin causes the skin to manufacture new collagen that can last for many years.

Juvederm Volite, Restylane Skinboosters Vital, Profhilo, Teoxane Redensity 1, Sunekos all can be used in this area.

Profhilo, Sunekos, Redensity 1, Restylane Skinboosters Vital, treatments have to be generally repeated at 6–8 months to preserve the effects. Juvederm Volite results can last up to 9 months.

Depending on the product selected the results will be evident about 5–8 weeks following the completion of treatment procedure.

You can improve the quality of your skin by using Chemical Peels, Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing, Medical Microneedling (Dermaroller or DermaPen). You can also use prescription Skin Care Products like Retinol, Glycolic acid to achieve improvement in skin texture, elasticity, radiance, plumpness, and reduction of fine wrinkles.

Botox, Azzalure, or Bocouture are Botulinum Toxin Type A injections that inhibit activation of muscles of facial expression thus reducing dynamic wrinkles. They can also improve skin quality when used in MicroTox doses. Botulinum Toxin Type A however has no effect on the synthesis or concentration of HA in the skin. All Skin Hydration dermal filler injections directly increase the concentration of HA in your skin.

While allergies or hypersensitivity to specific products are clear contraindications to HA dermal fillers, they should also be avoided in the conditions listed below:

All the HA dermal hydration injections are extremely safe HA dermal fillers. HA dermal fillers have been around for more than 15 years and have shown a very good safety profile. While side effects like nodule formation have been reported, the majority of patients don’t experience any adverse effects other than occasional transient bleeding, bruising and swelling that is associated with any injections.
